About the artist

Anastasia Danilenko is a contemporary Russian artist who lives and works in Volgograd and St. Petersburg. In 2015, Anastasia received her education at the VSPU (graphic design), however, painting became the sphere of its realization. Moreover, such a traditional painting genre as a portrait. Although it cannot be really called traditional in Danilenko’s case.

Her portraits are works about herself and her relationship with the world. Anastasia Danilenko’s portraits are confessional, regardless from the most imprinted image.

Anastasia Danilenko is concerned not so much about the specific appearance, as the very essence of the shell that hides a person in itself. In waist portraits, the figurative load is carried by the gesture, the general position of the body itself.

Anastasia Danilenko always starts with black, painting over the entire surface of the canvas with black paint and writes on it with her favorite range of green, pink colors. The colors sounds saturated on the black underdrawing, the image has a black contour and a rigid structure. Out of this black nothingness and your subconscious Anastasia, as a sculptor, carves alluring and catchy with her frankness images.
