Tamara Shipitzina

Tamara Shipitzina (1993) is a contemporary Russian artist, she lives and works in Volgograd. In 2016, she graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Volgograd University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Since 2014 Tamara has been participating in exhibitions and festivals of contemporary art. She is also co-founder of the Volgograd artists community “Burr”.

The artist explores the interrelationships of the city and its inhabitants: how the life of one person is intertwined with the life paths of other citizens, what emotional imprint city streets and public places have, what processes take place inside the city, which of them force people to leave it. Tamara Shipitsina forms out the answers to these questions into artistic installations and graphic works. A very special place in her work is occupied by printed graphics. The artist believes that this centuries-old artistic technique hides a lot of not yet discovered nuances and expressive possibilities. The expansion of the art language and the emergence of new materials, the print becomes for Tamara the medium to talk about modernity. The artist uses an etching machine assembled according to her own sketches.

Tamara Shipitsina’s artworks are included in the collections of the Siyanie Center for Contemporary Art and the Seven Winds Charitable Art Foundation, as well as in private collections.
