About this exhibit
The Seven Winds Foundation and the Volgograd Maxim Gorky Library present Dictionary of the Azars, a group exhibition of Stanislav Azarov and his students — Arina Vasilevskaya, Varvara Shilikhina and Alisa Kochkina.
The theme of the exhibition – letters, symbols and meanings enclosed in traditional symbolic sequences of alphabets and dictionaries. Each of the presented objects is a unique art book with sequences of letters and other symbols created using linocut, monotype, diatypy, collography, collage, acid etching of copper plates or a bold combination of several artistic techniques in one object.
The presented artworks allow us to take a fresh look at the very essence of the letter, as part of the linguistic and semantic code that we use daily and without the slightest reflection. This exhibition for the first time shows also Stanislav Azarov himself not only as an artist known for many exhibitions and art projects, but also as a teacher, in whose workshop dozens of talented young people have already been trained. All the presented works are the results of a complex creative collaboration of the artist–teacher and his students.
The opening will take place on February 10th at 17:00. Еntry is free. The exhibition will last until March 5, and we will additionally inform you about all special events (meetings with artists, print sessions, excursions/mediation) in the Telegram Feed @sevenwindsart and on this website.
